Iisalmi: Tourism in a nutshell
11,300 registered bed nights
In March 2019, 11,300 bed nights were recorded in Iisalmi (-41.6 %), of which 10,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 720 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 44 percent and foreign bed nights increased 52 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 42 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Japan (500 nights).
6,700 nights (-54.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,600 nights (-1.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 33,900 bed nights (-34.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,300 (+241.6 %) for foreigners in Iisalmi, in total 40,200 (-25.1 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

The market share of Iisalmi out of total bed nights was 0.6 % (-0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.
4,500 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 52 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.1 percent were domestic, and 3.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Iisalmi on average 2.5 nights (+0.38) and foreigners 4.1 nights (+1.9).

Total accommodation sales in March were 28,000 euro (-502,000). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 49.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 18,800 euro (-505,000) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 9,200 euro (+3,200).
