Registered bed nights increased 28 percent (August)

In August 2021, 19,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Imatra Region (+27.6 %), of which 18,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 960 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 42 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 56 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 28 percent from last year's August.

15,000 nights (+24.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,000 nights (+43.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 114,000 registered bed nights (+37.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2,300 (-91.9 %) for foreigners in Imatra Region, in total 116,000 (+4.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.9 percent (August)

Total of 2.1 million registered bed nights (+23.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (+17.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 264,000 nights (+77.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Imatra Region out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

8,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (August)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.0 percent were domestic, and 4.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Imatra Region on average 2.1 nights (+0.26) and foreigners 2.7 nights (+0.37).

The number of foreign visitors in August was 3,200 (-62.3 %). Out of them 2,400 were on a daytrip and 800 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and August was 8,500 (-96.5 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Imatra Region in August was 536,000 euro (169 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 164,000 euro and day visitors 372,000 euro. Between January and August the consumption was 1.4 million euro.
