Registered bed nights increased 220 percent (May)

In May 2021, 7,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Imatra Region (+219.9 %), of which 7,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 230 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 210 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 920 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 220 percent from last year's May.

5,500 nights (+577.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,400 nights (+46.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 33,800 registered bed nights (+35.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 510 (-98.0 %) for foreigners in Imatra Region, in total 34,300 (-31.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.9 percent (May)

Total of 850,000 registered bed nights (+183.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 779,000 nights (+177.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 71,600 nights (+266.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Imatra Region out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

4,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (May)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 300 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.0 percent were domestic, and 2.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Imatra Region on average 1.8 nights (-0.52) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+1.8).

The number of foreign visitors in May was 680 (+269.6 %). Out of them 520 were on a daytrip and 166 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and May was 3,100 (-98.6 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Imatra Region in May was 115,000 euro (169 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 33,700 euro and day visitors 81,200 euro. Between January and May the consumption was 513,000 euro.
