Imatra: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 19 percent
In June 2019, 22,500 bed nights were recorded in Imatra (+18.6 %), of which 16,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,400 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 49 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 21 percent. In total, bed nights increased 19 percent from last year's June.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (5,500 nights).
19,800 nights (+14.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,600 nights (+61.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and June, 56,500 bed nights (+25.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 44,000 (-9.8 %) for foreigners in Imatra, in total 101,000 (+7.2 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

11,600 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 67.9 percent were domestic, and 32.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Imatra on average 2.0 nights (+0.17) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.06).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased one percent
A total of 281,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 91.3 percent.

There was a total of 72,500 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 81.0 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 1.1 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in June were 1.1 million euro (+203,000).
Registered January-June sales were 4.9 million euro and they increased 381,000 euro from the previous year.
