Imatra: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 13 percent
In January 2020, 18,800 bed nights were recorded in Imatra (+13.0 %), of which 5,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 13,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased seven percent and foreign bed nights increased 23 percent. In total, bed nights increased 13 percent from last year's January.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (13,200 nights).
17,300 nights (+18.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,500 nights (-25.9 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

10,500 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 24 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 31.5 percent were domestic, and 68.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Imatra on average 1.6 nights (-0.18) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.21).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 25 percent
A total of 291,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 91.8 percent.
