Imatra: Tourism in a nutshell
15,600 registered bed nights
In March 2019, 15,600 bed nights were recorded in Imatra (-1.7 %), of which 7,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased three percent and foreign bed nights decreased five percent. In total, bed nights decreased two percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (8,100 nights).
14,000 nights (-0.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,500 nights (-12.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 23,400 bed nights (+33.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 24,900 (-15.1 %) for foreigners in Imatra, in total 48,400 (+3.2 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Imatra out of total bed nights was 0.8 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.5 %.
9,400 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 44.9 percent were domestic, and 55.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Imatra on average 1.7 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.04).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased seven percent
A total of 292,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 81.9 percent.

There was a total of 65,700 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 84.2 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 750,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 750,000 euro (-17,800). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 3.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 729,000 euro (-16,200) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 21,700 euro (-1,600).
Total January-March sales were 2.4 million euro and they increased 116,000 euro from the previous year.
