Imatra: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased three percent
In November 2019, 17,100 bed nights were recorded in Imatra (+3.0 %), of which 7,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 9,400 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased two percent and foreign bed nights increased four percent. In total, bed nights increased three percent from last year's November.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (8,000 nights).
14,600 nights (-1.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,600 nights (+38.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and November, 120,000 bed nights (+15.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 90,800 (-1.3 %) for foreigners in Imatra, in total 208,000 (+6.2 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

10,300 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 46.8 percent were domestic, and 53.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Imatra on average 1.6 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.19).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 16 percent
A total of 289,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 91.3 percent.

There was a total of 55,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 76.9 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Registered accommodation sales in November were 755,000 euro (+9,600).
Registered January-November sales were 9.9 million euro and they increased 699,000 euro from the previous year.
