Registered bed nights increased five percent (August)

In August 2023, 40,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Inari-Saariselkä (+5.2 %), of which 27,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased two percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 14 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased five percent from last year's August.

33,300 nights (+3.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,800 nights (+16.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 157,000 registered bed nights (-3.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 215,000 (+20.1 %) for foreigners in Inari-Saariselkä, in total 372,000 (+8.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.7 percent (August)

Total of 2.3 million registered bed nights (-0.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.7 million nights (-2.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 604,000 nights (+7.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari-Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights was 1.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.6 % and foreign bed nights 2.1 %.

Market share in Lapland 20.6 percent (August)

Total of 194,000 registered bed nights (-2.8 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 141,000 nights (-4.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 53,300 nights (+2.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari-Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 20.6 %, out of domestic bed nights 19.3 % and foreign bed nights 24.1 %.

23,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (August)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 60.0 percent were domestic, and 40.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari-Saariselkä on average 2.0 nights (+0.01) and foreigners 1.4 nights (-0.04).

2,600 air travelers (August, Ivalo)

The airport received a total of 2,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 18 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 99.7 %.

In addition, there were 2,800 passengers departing the airport (+29.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 5,400 (+23.8 %).
