Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 35 percent

In January 2018, 18,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Inari Excl. Saariselkä (+35.0 %), of which 2,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 16,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 86 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 30 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 35 percent from last year's January.

11,200 nights (+37.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,200 nights (+31.0 %) by business visitors.

Market share 1.2 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+3.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 856,000 nights (+0.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 671,000 nights (+7.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 2.4 %.

Market share in Lapland 5.6 percent

Total of 328,000 registered bed nights (+5.8 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 73,700 nights (+3.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 254,000 nights (+6.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 5.6 %, out of domestic bed nights 3.0 % and foreign bed nights 6.4 %.

Length of stay was 2.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 21 percent compared to earlier year. In Inari Excl. Saariselkä, length of stay in January was on average 2.8 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.3 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari Excl. Saariselkä on average 2.1 nights and foreigners 2.9 nights .

6,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 72 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 15.7 percent were domestic, and 84.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari Excl. Saariselkä on average 2.1 nights (+0.26) and foreigners 2.9 nights (-0.96).

The airport received a total of 16,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 16 percent.

Of local passengers, 17.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 82.1 %.
