Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In December 2018, 24,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Inari Excl. Saariselkä (+6.8 %), of which 1,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 23,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased seven percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's December.

17,600 nights (+11.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,000 nights (-3.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 56,200 registered bed nights (+12.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 121,000 (+5.7 %) for foreigners in Inari Excl. Saariselkä, in total 177,000 (+7.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.4 percent

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+3.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 967,000 nights (-0.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 789,000 nights (+7.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights was 1.4 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 2.9 %.

Market share in Lapland 5.0 percent

Total of 489,000 registered bed nights (+5.2 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 90,200 nights (-5.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 399,000 nights (+7.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 5.0 %, out of domestic bed nights 1.7 % and foreign bed nights 5.8 %.

Length of stay was 1.9 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 30 percent compared to earlier year. In Inari Excl. Saariselkä, length of stay in December was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.4 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari Excl. Saariselkä on average 1.8 nights (+4.0 %) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-10.8 %).

13,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 52 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 6.5 percent were domestic, and 93.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari Excl. Saariselkä on average 1.8 nights (+0.12) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.9).

37,500 air travelers (Ivalo)

The airport received a total of 37,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 16 percent.

Of local passengers, 51.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 48.8 %.

In addition, there were 32,200 passengers departing the airport (+10.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 69,700 (+13.6 %).
