Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 10 percent

In December 2019, 26,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Inari Excl. Saariselkä (+9.6 %), of which 1,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 25,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 24 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased nine percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 10 percent from last year's December.

20,700 nights (+17.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,200 nights (-11.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 55,700 registered bed nights (-0.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 140,000 (+16.2 %) for foreigners in Inari Excl. Saariselkä, in total 196,000 (+10.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.5 percent

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+1.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 988,000 nights (+2.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 789,000 nights (-0.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 3.2 %.

Market share in Lapland 5.3 percent

Total of 510,000 registered bed nights (+4.2 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 102,000 nights (+13.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 408,000 nights (+2.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 5.3 %, out of domestic bed nights 1.9 % and foreign bed nights 6.1 %.

Length of stay increased 28 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 28 percent compared to earlier year. In Inari Excl. Saariselkä, length of stay in December was on average 2.4 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.9 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari Excl. Saariselkä on average 1.9 nights (-6.8 %) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+7.7 %).

11,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 9.3 percent were domestic, and 90.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari Excl. Saariselkä on average 1.9 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.58).

35,000 air travelers (Ivalo)

The airport received a total of 35,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased seven percent.

Of local passengers, 48.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 51.1 %.

In addition, there were 30,800 passengers departing the airport (-4.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 65,800 (-5.6 %).
