Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased six percent

In February 2020, 28,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Inari Excl. Saariselkä (+6.5 %), of which 1,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 26,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased four percent and registered foreign bed nights increased seven percent. In total, registered bed nights increased six percent from last year's February.

21,500 nights (+3.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,000 nights (+18.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 3,700 registered bed nights (+1.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 51,900 (+14.2 %) for foreigners in Inari Excl. Saariselkä, in total 55,600 (+13.3 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.5 percent

Total of 1.9 million registered bed nights (+7.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 611,000 nights (+1.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 4.4 %.

Market share in Lapland 6.9 percent

Total of 415,000 registered bed nights (+6.9 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 126,000 nights (+21.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 289,000 nights (+1.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Inari Excl. Saariselkä out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 6.9 %, out of domestic bed nights 1.5 % and foreign bed nights 9.2 %.

Length of stay increased three percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. In Inari Excl. Saariselkä, length of stay in February was on average 2.9 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+2.0 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari Excl. Saariselkä on average 1.9 nights (-2.2 %) and foreigners 3.0 nights (-4.0 %).

9,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 10.2 percent were domestic, and 89.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Inari Excl. Saariselkä on average 1.9 nights (0.0) and foreigners 3.0 nights (+0.1).

20,300 air travelers (Ivalo)

The airport received a total of 20,300 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased three percent.

Of local passengers, 23.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 76.9 %.

In addition, there were 18,600 passengers departing the airport (+3.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 38,800 (+3.2 %).
