Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased 37 percent
In August 2018, 23,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Itä-Lappi (+36.5 %), of which 16,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 280 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 37 percent from last year's August.
16,200 nights (+4.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,800 nights (+291.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 156,000 registered bed nights (+6.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 51,800 (+42.4 %) for foreigners in Itä-Lappi, in total 208,000 (+13.6 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased 16 percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 16 percent compared to earlier year. In Itä-Lappi, length of stay in August was on average 3.7 nights and in Finland 1.8 nights (-0.8 %).
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Itä-Lappi on average 3.0 nights (+1.1 %) and foreigners 6.8 nights (+21.4 %).
6,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 18 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.7 percent were domestic, and 17.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Itä-Lappi on average 3.0 nights (-0.2) and foreigners 6.8 nights (+3.9).
