Paid bed nights

268,000 registered bed nights

In December 2018, 268,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Jämtland County (-6.4 %), of which 243,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 24,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased five percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 21 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased six percent from last year's December.

32,600 rooms (+27.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 15,600 rooms (+0.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 2.4 million registered bed nights (-4.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 612,000 (+1.7 %) for foreigners in Jämtland County, in total 3.0 million (-3.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+1.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 787,000 nights (+3.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Jämtland County out of total registered bed nights was 7.8 % (-0.7 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 9.2 % and foreign bed nights 3.1 %.

Length of stay was 5.2 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 18 percent compared to earlier year. In Jämtland County, length of stay in December was on average 5.2 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.1 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Jämtland County on average 5.5 nights (-9.3 %) and foreigners 3.3 nights (-2.2 %).

51,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.6 percent were domestic, and 14.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Jämtland County on average 5.5 nights (-1.1) and foreigners 3.3 nights (-1.1).
