In January 2021, 6,900 bed nights were recorded in Joensuu Region (-58.1 %), of which 6,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 410 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 49 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 89 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 58 percent from last year's January.
2,800 nights (-67.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,100 nights (-47.4 %) by business visitors.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 62 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.9 percent were domestic, and 3.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Joensuu Region on average 1.7 nights (+0.15) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+1.6).
