14,300 registered bed nights (April)

In April 2023, 14,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Joensuu Region (-20.1 %), of which 13,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 850 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 20 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 18 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 20 percent from last year's April.

7,900 nights (-25.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,400 nights (-11.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 56,300 registered bed nights (+3.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,500 (-14.6 %) for foreigners in Joensuu Region, in total 61,800 (+1.6 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.9 percent (April)

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (-3.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-7.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 261,000 nights (+20.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Joensuu Region out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

9,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (April)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.8 percent were domestic, and 4.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Joensuu Region on average 1.5 nights (-0.21) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.04).

1,800 air travelers (April, Joensuu)

The airport received a total of 1,800 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 133 percent.

Of local passengers, 23.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 76.9 %.

In addition, there were 1,800 passengers departing the airport (+128.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 3,600 (+130.7 %).

Accommodation sales 1.3 million euro (April)

Total accommodation sales in April were 1.3 million euro (-164,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 19.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.0 million euro (-159,000) and non-registered sales 260,000 euro (-5,200).

Total January-April sales were 5.5 million euro and they increased 258,000 euro from the previous year.
