In March 2020, 11,800 bed nights were recorded in Joensuu Region (-46.9 %), of which 7,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,400 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 59 percent and foreign bed nights increased eight percent. In total, bed nights decreased 47 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (900 nights).

4,900 nights (-61.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,900 nights (-26.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 39,800 bed nights (-16.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 10,600 (+1.9 %) for foreigners in Joensuu Region, in total 50,400 (-13.6 %) nights.

Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

A total of 145,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 88.7 percent.

Accommodation sales 1.5 million euro

Total accommodation sales in March were 1.5 million euro (-74,900). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 34.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 977,000 euro (-463,000) and non-registered sales 504,000 euro (+388,000).

Total January-March sales were 4.7 million euro and they increased 605,000 euro from the previous year.
