12,000 registered bed nights (April)

In April 2023, 12,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Joensuu (-11.6 %), of which 11,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 11 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 17 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 12 percent from last year's April.

6,100 nights (-10.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,800 nights (-13.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 47,200 registered bed nights (+21.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,800 (-15.9 %) for foreigners in Joensuu, in total 52,100 (+16.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (-3.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-7.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 261,000 nights (+20.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Joensuu out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

8,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (April)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.4 percent were domestic, and 4.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Joensuu on average 1.4 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.01).

1,800 air travelers (April)

The airport received a total of 1,800 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 133 percent.

Of local passengers, 23.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 76.9 %.

In addition, there were 1,800 passengers departing the airport (+128.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 3,600 (+130.7 %).

Accommodation sales 1.0 million euro (April)

Total accommodation sales in April were 1.0 million euro (-88,100). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 8.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 922,000 euro (-104,000) and non-registered sales 90,000 euro (+16,100).

Total January-April sales were 4.5 million euro and they increased 454,000 euro from the previous year.
