20,500 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 20,500 bed nights (+8.0 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Joensuu in May 2019. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 85 % and non-registered 15 %.
Between January and May, the number of paid bed nights was 89,500 (-1.9 %). Share of registered was 84 % and non-registered 16 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased nine percent
In May 2019, 17,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Joensuu (+9.3 %), of which 15,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased seven percent. In total, registered bed nights increased nine percent from last year's May.
7,200 nights (+30.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 10,300 nights (-2.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 62,900 registered bed nights (+4.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 12,500 (-25.5 %) for foreigners in Joensuu, in total 75,300 (-2.3 %) registered nights.

The airport received a total of 7,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 11 percent.
Of local passengers, 24.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 75.9 %.
In addition, there were 6,100 passengers departing the airport (+8.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 13,100 (+9.5 %).
