22,900 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 22,900 bed nights (+80.1 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Joensuu in May 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 82 % and non-registered 18 %.
Between January and May, the number of paid bed nights was 80,500 (+73.1 %). Share of registered was 79 % and non-registered 21 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased 91 percent
In May 2022, 18,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Joensuu (+90.5 %), of which 17,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 76 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 720 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 91 percent from last year's May.
7,700 nights (+76.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 11,100 nights (+101.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 56,000 registered bed nights (+71.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 7,600 (+428.0 %) for foreigners in Joensuu, in total 63,600 (+86.8 %) registered nights.

The airport received a total of 1,300 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 570 percent.
