Jyväskylä: Tourism in a nutshell
39,200 registered bed nights
In March 2019, 39,200 bed nights were recorded in Jyväskylä (+0.2 %), of which 34,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,700 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased four percent and foreign bed nights decreased 21 percent. In total, bed nights increased less than one percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (640 nights).
13,700 nights (-25.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 25,500 nights (+22.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 92,600 bed nights (+0.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 14,500 (-16.2 %) for foreigners in Jyväskylä, in total 107,000 (-2.3 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Jyväskylä out of total bed nights was 2.1 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.
26,400 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 90.9 percent were domestic, and 9.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Jyväskylä on average 1.4 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.21).
3,700 international congress guests in 2019
The number of international congress quests decreased 22 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 51 congresses organized (+5.0) in 2019.
2,700 air travelers
The airport received a total of 2,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased one percent.
Of local passengers, 7.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 92.9 %.
In addition, there were 2,900 passengers departing the airport (-2.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 5,600.

Accommodation sales 3.0 million euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 3.0 million euro (+142,000). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 14.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.6 million euro (+167,000) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 367,000 euro (-24,900).
Total January-March sales were 8.5 million euro and they decreased 195,000 euro from the previous year.
