32,900 registered bed nights

In January 2019, 32,900 bed nights were recorded in Jyväskylä (-3.1 %), of which 27,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased one percent and foreign bed nights decreased 21 percent. In total, bed nights decreased three percent from last year's January.

11,300 nights (-17.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 21,700 nights (+6.8 %) by business visitors.

Market share 2.1 percent

Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Jyväskylä out of total bed nights was 2.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

23,100 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 88.2 percent were domestic, and 11.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Jyväskylä on average 1.4 nights (-0.03) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.09).

4,800 international congress guests in 2018

The number of international congress quests increased five percent from the previous year.

There was a total of 46 congresses organized (-22) in 2018.

1,800 air travelers

The airport received a total of 1,800 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 22 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 99.3 %.

In addition, there were 2,400 passengers departing the airport (-14.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 4,200.

Total accommodation sales in January were 2.6 million euro (+157,000). The share of Airbnb was 7.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.4 million euro (+130,000) and Airbnb sales 172,000 euro (+27,100).
