Registered bed nights increased two percent
In May 2022, 44,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Kainuu (+2.4 %), of which 41,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 139 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased two percent from last year's May.
36,400 nights (+0.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,000 nights (+14.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 353,000 registered bed nights (+6.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 24,300 (+86.8 %) for foreigners in Kainuu, in total 378,000 (+9.5 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

15,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.3 percent were domestic, and 3.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kainuu on average 2.8 nights (-0.31) and foreigners 4.7 nights (-1.3).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 36 percent
A total of 32,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Russian visa applications increased 920 percent (April)
There was a total of 11,200 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 84.0 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 2.4 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in May were 2.4 million euro (+326,000).
Registered January-May sales were 19.0 million euro and they increased 3.6 million euro from the previous year.
