88,900 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 88,900 bed nights (-5.2 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Kainuu in January 2019. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 84 % and non-registered 16 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased two percent
In January 2019, 75,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Kainuu (+1.7 %), of which 52,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 22,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased nine percent. In total, registered bed nights increased two percent from last year's January.
64,400 nights (+25.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 10,600 nights (-53.2 %) by business visitors.

Length of stay increased 12 percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. In Kainuu, length of stay in January was on average 3.8 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+0.4 %).
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kainuu on average 3.3 nights and foreigners 6.3 nights .
19,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 81.7 percent were domestic, and 18.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kainuu on average 3.3 nights (+0.31) and foreigners 6.3 nights (+0.68).

The airport received a total of 3,800 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased three percent.
Of local passengers, 6.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 93.5 %.

Accommodation sales 4.2 million euro
Total accommodation sales in January were 4.2 million euro (+1.6 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 13.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.6 million euro (+1.7 million) and non-registered sales 557,000 euro (-108,000).
