107,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 107,000 bed nights (+9.6 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Kainuu in December 2019. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 73 % and non-registered 27 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 1.2 million (+9.1 %). Share of registered was 80 % and non-registered 20 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
78,900 registered bed nights
In December 2019, 78,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Kainuu (-4.0 %), of which 68,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 10,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased one percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 27 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased four percent from last year's December.
70,800 nights (+14.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,100 nights (-59.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 894,000 registered bed nights (+5.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 98,400 (-8.4 %) for foreigners in Kainuu, in total 992,000 (+4.0 %) registered nights.

Length of stay was 3.3 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Kainuu, length of stay in December was on average 3.3 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.9 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kainuu on average 3.4 nights (+0.3 %) and foreigners 3.1 nights (-4.0 %).
23,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.3 percent were domestic, and 14.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kainuu on average 3.4 nights (-0.11) and foreigners 3.1 nights (-0.93).

Accommodation sales 4.9 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 4.9 million euro (+1.9 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 24.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.7 million euro (+1.3 million) and non-registered sales 1.2 million euro (+614,000).
Total January-December sales were 53.9 million euro and they increased 22.4 million euro from the previous year.
