Kalix: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
Registered bed nights increased 51 percent
In May 2022, 2,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalix (+50.6 %), of which 2,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 440 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 34 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 390 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 51 percent from last year's May.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (172 nights).
370 rooms (+146.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,200 rooms (+70.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 10,900 registered bed nights (+87.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,000 (+416.3 %) for foreigners in Kalix, in total 11,900 (+98.9 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

1,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 85 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.7 percent were domestic, and 17.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalix on average 2.3 nights (-0.38) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-3.0).

Registered January-May sales were 7.2 million SEK and they increased 4.4 million SEK from the previous year.
