In August 2020, 5,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalix (-36.0 %), of which 5,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 710 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 24 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 69 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 36 percent from last year's August.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (310 nights).
370 rooms (-66.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,700 rooms (+12.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 21,900 registered bed nights (-39.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,500 (-83.7 %) for foreigners in Kalix, in total 25,400 (-56.0 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

Length of stay increased 15 percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 15 percent compared to earlier year. In Kalix, length of stay in August was on average 5.0 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (+6.0 %).
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalix on average 5.6 nights (-3.0 %) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+2.6 %).
1,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 44 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 77.8 percent were domestic, and 22.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalix on average 5.6 nights (-0.82) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+0.54).
