Registered bed nights increased 35 percent
In August 2021, 7,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalix (+34.6 %), of which 6,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 920 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 35 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 29 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 35 percent from last year's August.
550 rooms (+47.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,900 rooms (+7.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 25,800 registered bed nights (+18.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2,400 (-30.9 %) for foreigners in Kalix, in total 28,300 (+11.2 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 19 percent compared to earlier year. In Kalix, length of stay in August was on average 4.0 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-3.6 %).
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalix on average 4.5 nights (+11.6 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-15.9 %).
1,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 67 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 78.1 percent were domestic, and 21.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalix on average 4.5 nights (-1.1) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.59).
