Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased five percent

In March 2023, 62,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar County (+5.4 %), of which 57,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased eight percent. In total, registered bed nights increased five percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (700 nights).

15,900 rooms (+17.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 24,600 rooms (+12.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 151,000 registered bed nights (+19.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,300 (-5.3 %) for foreigners in Kalmar County, in total 163,000 (+17.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.6 percent

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+4.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (+2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 747,000 nights (+15.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar County out of total registered bed nights was 1.6 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

Length of stay was 1.9 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased six percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar County, length of stay in March was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-6.3 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 1.9 nights (+1.1 %) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-19.0 %).

32,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.4 percent were domestic, and 5.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 1.9 nights (-0.09) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.62).
