Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 14 percent

In October 2018, 87,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar County (+13.9 %), of which 74,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 15 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 10 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 14 percent from last year's October.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (4,000 nights).

17,700 rooms (+33.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 25,800 rooms (-0.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 2.3 million registered bed nights (-3.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 490,000 (+7.4 %) for foreigners in Kalmar County, in total 2.8 million (-2.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.2 percent

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+6.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (+5.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 956,000 nights (+9.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar County out of total registered bed nights was 2.2 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.3 %.

Length of stay increased nine percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar County, length of stay in October was on average 2.1 nights and in Sweden 1.8 nights (+1.0 %).

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 1.9 nights (+2.9 %) and foreigners 4.0 nights (+7.6 %).

41,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.3 percent were domestic, and 7.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 1.9 nights (+0.15) and foreigners 4.0 nights (+0.65).
