Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In February 2020, 51,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar County (+8.4 %), of which 44,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 46 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's February.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Latvia (1,300 nights).

11,200 rooms (+13.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 18,300 rooms (+4.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 83,100 registered bed nights (+4.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 12,100 (+59.5 %) for foreigners in Kalmar County, in total 95,200 (+9.6 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.2 percent

Total of 4.4 million registered bed nights (+3.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.5 million nights (+5.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 935,000 nights (-2.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar County out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay was 2.1 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar County, length of stay in February was on average 2.1 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (-3.1 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.0 nights (-4.8 %) and foreigners 4.3 nights (+58.7 %).

24,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.2 percent were domestic, and 5.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.0 nights (-0.11) and foreigners 4.3 nights (+1.2).
