41,700 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 41,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar County (-26.3 %), of which 37,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 27 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 21 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 26 percent from last year's March.

9,800 rooms (-16.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 15,200 rooms (-25.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 121,000 registered bed nights (-7.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 16,100 (+27.4 %) for foreigners in Kalmar County, in total 137,000 (-4.6 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.5 percent

Total of 2.8 million registered bed nights (-37.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-33.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 406,000 nights (-54.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar County out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.6 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

Length of stay increased seven percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar County, length of stay in March was on average 2.1 nights and in Sweden 2.7 nights (+19.0 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.0 nights (-1.4 %) and foreigners 4.1 nights (+53.7 %).

19,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 31 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.0 percent were domestic, and 5.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.0 nights (+0.1) and foreigners 4.1 nights (+1.2).
