30,200 registered bed nights

In December 2020, 30,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar County (-35.5 %), of which 28,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 30 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 69 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 35 percent from last year's December.

6,700 rooms (-43.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 10,200 rooms (-28.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 2.2 million registered bed nights (-9.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 126,000 (-77.1 %) for foreigners in Kalmar County, in total 2.3 million (-22.2 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (-47.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.6 million nights (-40.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 208,000 nights (-72.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar County out of total registered bed nights was 1.7 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.7 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

Length of stay increased 15 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 15 percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar County, length of stay in December was on average 2.3 nights and in Sweden 2.8 nights (+37.5 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.3 nights (+9.8 %) and foreigners 3.2 nights (+15.9 %).

13,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 44 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.0 percent were domestic, and 5.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.3 nights (+0.45) and foreigners 3.2 nights (-2.4).
