Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In March 2021, 44,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar County (+7.1 %), of which 39,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased four percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 39 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's March.

10,100 rooms (+3.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 15,200 rooms (+0.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 102,000 registered bed nights (-15.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 15,600 (-2.9 %) for foreigners in Kalmar County, in total 118,000 (-14.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.5 percent

Total of 2.9 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+11.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (-46.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar County out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.5 % and foreign bed nights 2.5 %.

Length of stay increased 11 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar County, length of stay in March was on average 2.4 nights and in Sweden 3.2 nights (+21.8 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.2 nights (+13.9 %) and foreigners 6.1 nights (+14.9 %).

18,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.2 percent were domestic, and 4.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.2 nights (+0.15) and foreigners 6.1 nights (+2.0).
