Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 44 percent

In August 2021, 668,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar County (+43.9 %), of which 575,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 93,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 33 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 178 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 44 percent from last year's August.

73,700 rooms (+57.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 18,600 rooms (+4.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 2.5 million registered bed nights (+30.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 232,000 (+143.4 %) for foreigners in Kalmar County, in total 2.8 million (+35.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 7.9 percent

Total of 8.4 million registered bed nights (+39.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.8 million nights (+25.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.6 million nights (+160.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar County out of total registered bed nights was 7.9 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 8.4 % and foreign bed nights 5.8 %.

Length of stay was 2.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar County, length of stay in August was on average 2.7 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-3.6 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.7 nights (-2.8 %) and foreigners 3.0 nights (-14.2 %).

247,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 49 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 87.5 percent were domestic, and 12.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar County on average 2.7 nights (-0.11) and foreigners 3.0 nights (-0.43).
