Registered bed nights increased 54 percent

In December 2021, 17,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar (+53.6 %), of which 15,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 52 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 78 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 54 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (360 nights).

5,600 rooms (+116.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 5,100 rooms (+54.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 390,000 registered bed nights (+25.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 46,300 (+119.4 %) for foreigners in Kalmar, in total 436,000 (+31.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.5 percent

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+85.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+74.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 553,000 nights (+166.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

10,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 86 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.4 percent were domestic, and 6.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar on average 1.5 nights (-0.35) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.08).
