Registered bed nights increased 27 percent

In May 2022, 41,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar (+27.4 %), of which 37,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 22 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 122 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 27 percent from last year's May.

10,100 rooms (+75.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 11,200 rooms (+42.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 106,000 registered bed nights (+33.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 10,800 (-15.8 %) for foreigners in Kalmar, in total 117,000 (+26.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.8 percent

Total of 5.4 million registered bed nights (+64.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.4 million nights (+46.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 993,000 nights (+241.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

21,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 43 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.3 percent were domestic, and 11.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar on average 2.0 nights (-0.18) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.67).
