Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased three percent

In August 2019, 65,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar (+3.2 %), of which 50,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 14,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased two percent and registered foreign bed nights increased eight percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (6,600 nights).

13,900 rooms (-1.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 8,400 rooms (+3.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 266,000 registered bed nights (+5.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 54,400 (+8.8 %) for foreigners in Kalmar, in total 320,000 (+5.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.7 percent

Total of 8.9 million registered bed nights (+3.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.1 million nights (+4.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.8 million nights (+3.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay was 2.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar, length of stay in August was on average 2.8 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (+0.4 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar on average 2.5 nights (-6.1 %) and foreigners 4.6 nights (+16.6 %).

23,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.4 percent were domestic, and 13.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar on average 2.5 nights (-0.26) and foreigners 4.6 nights (+0.8).
