Paid bed nights

15,000 registered bed nights

In January 2020, 15,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar (-2.1 %), of which 13,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased four percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 29 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased two percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (220 nights).

3,600 rooms (+5.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,100 rooms (-4.1 %) by business visitors.

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.1 million nights (+2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 797,000 nights (-0.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar out of total registered bed nights was 0.4 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar, length of stay in January was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-2.0 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar on average 1.6 nights and foreigners 1.9 nights .

9,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.2 percent were domestic, and 7.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar on average 1.6 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.17).
