Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased two percent

In July 2020, 94,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Kalmar (+2.5 %), of which 90,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 25 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 77 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased two percent from last year's July.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (1,200 nights).

18,800 rooms (+3.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 4,800 rooms (-25.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and July, 187,000 registered bed nights (-13.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,000 (-72.2 %) for foreigners in Kalmar, in total 198,000 (-22.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.0 percent

Total of 9.4 million registered bed nights (-30.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 8.8 million nights (-5.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 551,000 nights (-86.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kalmar out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

Length of stay was 2.0 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 31 percent compared to earlier year. In Kalmar, length of stay in July was on average 2.0 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (-0.2 %).

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar on average 2.0 nights (-3.5 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-38.0 %).

46,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 48 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.4 percent were domestic, and 4.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kalmar on average 2.0 nights (-0.65) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-2.4).
