Registered bed nights increased 121 percent

In December 2021, 32,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Karlstad (+121.4 %), of which 29,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 115 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 240 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 121 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (1,000 nights).

7,300 rooms (+143.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 11,000 rooms (+129.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 454,000 registered bed nights (+8.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 49,700 (+26.8 %) for foreigners in Karlstad, in total 504,000 (+9.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.0 percent

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+85.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+74.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 553,000 nights (+166.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Karlstad out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

20,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 135 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.9 percent were domestic, and 8.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.5 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 1.5 nights (-0.57).
