52,400 registered bed nights

In September 2019, 52,400 bed nights were recorded in Karlstad (-6.5 %), of which 39,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,600 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased one percent and foreign bed nights decreased 20 percent. In total, bed nights decreased six percent from last year's September.

11,700 rooms (-8.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 20,300 rooms (+9.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 412,000 bed nights (+0.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 187,000 (+7.6 %) for foreigners in Karlstad, in total 598,000 (+2.9 %) nights.

Total of 4.5 million bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+3.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.2 million nights (-1.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Karlstad out of total bed nights was 1.2 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 1.1 %.

28,800 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 71.9 percent were domestic, and 28.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.9 nights (+0.26) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.05).
