Karlstad: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
Registered bed nights increased 90 percent
In May 2022, 58,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Karlstad (+89.8 %), of which 50,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 72 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 400 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 90 percent from last year's May.
9,900 rooms (+159.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 20,700 rooms (+142.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 180,000 registered bed nights (+69.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 26,100 (+285.0 %) for foreigners in Karlstad, in total 206,000 (+82.6 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 132 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.1 percent were domestic, and 13.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.7 nights (-0.35) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-1.2).
