Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased three percent

In March 2019, 49,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Karlstad (+2.6 %), of which 38,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 11,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased eight percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's March.

9,900 rooms (+4.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 19,000 rooms (+16.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 97,400 registered bed nights (-4.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 30,700 (+17.6 %) for foreigners in Karlstad, in total 128,000 (-0.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.1 percent

Total of 4.5 million registered bed nights (-3.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.6 million nights (-1.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 888,000 nights (-12.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Karlstad out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 1.3 %.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Karlstad, length of stay in March was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-4.6 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.7 nights (+0.3 %) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+4.7 %).

27,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 83.0 percent were domestic, and 17.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.7 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.21).
