Paid bed nights

21,200 registered bed nights

In March 2021, 21,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Karlstad (-5.7 %), of which 20,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased four percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 67 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased six percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (230 nights).

4,300 rooms (-2.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 8,100 rooms (-14.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 54,400 registered bed nights (-37.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,400 (-80.4 %) for foreigners in Karlstad, in total 57,800 (-44.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.9 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+11.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (-46.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Karlstad out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Karlstad, length of stay in March was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 3.2 nights (+21.8 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.8 nights (+1.9 %) and foreigners 3.5 nights (+95.0 %).

11,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.4 percent were domestic, and 2.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.8 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 3.5 nights (+1.5).
