35,400 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 35,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Karlstad (-32.3 %), of which 31,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 21 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 69 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 32 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (1,300 nights).

7,700 rooms (-33.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 13,300 rooms (-34.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 357,000 registered bed nights (-13.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 33,900 (-81.8 %) for foreigners in Karlstad, in total 391,000 (-34.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-19.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 441,000 nights (-61.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Karlstad out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

19,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 32 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.4 percent were domestic, and 9.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.8 nights (-0.14) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.55).
