Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 14 percent

In October 2021, 44,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Karlstad (+13.6 %), of which 39,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 51 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 14 percent from last year's October.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (2,900 nights).

9,800 rooms (+2.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 16,400 rooms (+29.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 385,000 registered bed nights (-1.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 42,900 (+15.0 %) for foreigners in Karlstad, in total 428,000 (-0.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+25.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (+19.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 708,000 nights (+57.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Karlstad out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay was 1.9 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Karlstad, length of stay in October was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-4.6 %).

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.8 nights (-6.7 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+39.5 %).

23,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 22 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.9 percent were domestic, and 10.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Karlstad on average 1.8 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.74).
