Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In January 2019, 7,400 bed nights were recorded in Kemi (+8.0 %), of which 3,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased eight percent and foreign bed nights increased eight percent. In total, bed nights increased eight percent from last year's January.

4,400 nights (+10.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,000 nights (+4.7 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kemi out of total bed nights was 0.5 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

5,200 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 39.3 percent were domestic, and 60.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kemi on average 1.5 nights (-0.01) and foreigners 1.4 nights (-0.02).

The airport received a total of 2,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 13 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.
