Kemi: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
Registered bed nights increased 210 percent
In December 2021, 7,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Kemi (+213.2 %), of which 4,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 102 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 2,200 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 210 percent from last year's December.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Greece (380 nights).
3,600 nights (+243.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,700 nights (+188.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 54,900 registered bed nights (+29.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 10,600 (-43.2 %) for foreigners in Kemi, in total 65,500 (+7.0 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

4,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 230 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 65.8 percent were domestic, and 34.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kemi on average 1.4 nights (-0.2) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.03).

1,200 air travelers
The airport received a total of 1,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 670 percent.
Of local passengers, 0.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 99.1 %.
In addition, there were 1,100 passengers departing the airport (+886.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2,300 (+760.1 %).

Registered accommodation sales in December were 434,000 euro (+286,000).
Registered January-December sales were 4.4 million euro and they increased 504,000 euro from the previous year.
