Registered bed nights increased 12 percent
In December 2019, 39,400 bed nights were recorded in Kiruna (+12.0 %), of which 13,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 25,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 11 percent and foreign bed nights increased 30 percent. In total, bed nights increased 12 percent from last year's December.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United Kingdom (4,100 nights).
11,700 rooms (+28.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,500 rooms (+18.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 333,000 bed nights (+3.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 211,000 (+5.2 %) for foreigners in Kiruna, in total 544,000 (+4.2 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels, campsites, and commercially arranged rentals in private cottages and apartments. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

20,100 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 34.0 percent were domestic, and 66.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kiruna on average 2.0 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.06).
25,600 air travelers
The airport received a total of 25,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased three percent.
Of local passengers, 8.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 91.3 %.
In addition, there were 25,400 passengers departing the airport (+2.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 23,500 (+2.8 %).

Accommodation sales 29.4 million SEK
Registered accommodation sales in December were 29.4 million SEK (+7.2 million).
Registered January-December sales were 318.3 million SEK and they increased 34.2 million euro from the previous year.
