Registered bed nights increased 186 percent

In April 2021, 47,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Kiruna (+185.6 %), of which 44,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 191 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 135 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 186 percent from last year's April.

12,900 rooms (+255.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,000 rooms (+81.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 115,000 registered bed nights (+38.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 25,500 (-66.5 %) for foreigners in Kiruna, in total 140,000 (-11.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.9 percent

Total of 2.6 million registered bed nights (+102.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.3 million nights (+103.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (+90.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kiruna out of total registered bed nights was 1.9 % (+0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.9 % and foreign bed nights 1.7 %.

14,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 193 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.1 percent were domestic, and 10.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kiruna on average 3.4 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-1.3).

The airport received a total of 4,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 500 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.

In addition, there were 4,800 passengers departing the airport (+517.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 9,100 (+510.8 %).
