Registered bed nights increased 25 percent

In September 2021, 39,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Kiruna (+25.3 %), of which 32,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 26 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 23 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 25 percent from last year's September.

9,100 rooms (+56.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 11,000 rooms (+13.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 312,000 registered bed nights (+38.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 58,700 (-37.4 %) for foreigners in Kiruna, in total 371,000 (+16.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.0 percent

Total of 4.1 million registered bed nights (+30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+24.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 723,000 nights (+65.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kiruna out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

16,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 19 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 78.1 percent were domestic, and 21.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kiruna on average 2.5 nights (+0.22) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.23).

11,200 air travelers

The airport received a total of 11,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 87 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.

In addition, there were 10,400 passengers departing the airport (+80.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 12,000 (+93.9 %).
