Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 12 percent

In June 2019, 45,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Kiruna (+11.8 %), of which 31,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 14,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased seven percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 12 percent from last year's June.

9,700 rooms (+64.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 9,700 rooms (+80.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 169,000 registered bed nights (+3.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 102,000 (+1.0 %) for foreigners in Kiruna, in total 271,000 (+2.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.6 percent

Total of 7.1 million registered bed nights (+7.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.0 million nights (+8.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+5.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kiruna out of total registered bed nights was 0.6 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay was 2.0 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. In Kiruna, length of stay in June was on average 2.0 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (+4.2 %).

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kiruna on average 2.3 nights (+1.6 %) and foreigners 1.6 nights (+2.1 %).

22,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 24 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 60.6 percent were domestic, and 39.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kiruna on average 2.3 nights (-0.12) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.37).
