16,500 registered bed nights (August)

In August 2022, 16,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Kittilä (-12.5 %), of which 12,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 27 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 174 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 12 percent from last year's August.

11,800 nights (-17.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,700 nights (+3.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 189,000 registered bed nights (-1.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 127,000 (+2,176.4 %) for foreigners in Kittilä, in total 316,000 (+60.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.3 million registered bed nights (+12.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (-2.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 560,000 nights (+114.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kittilä out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Total of 200,000 registered bed nights (-6.2 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 148,000 nights (-20.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 51,500 nights (+88.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kittilä out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 8.2 %, out of domestic bed nights 8.5 % and foreign bed nights 7.4 %.

9,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (August)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 67.9 percent were domestic, and 32.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kittilä on average 2.0 nights (-0.16) and foreigners 1.3 nights (+0.04).

1,400 air travelers (August)

The airport received a total of 1,400 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 26 percent.

Of local passengers, 15.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 84.1 %.

In addition, there were 1,600 passengers departing the airport (-17.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 3,000 (-21.6 %).

Accommodation sales 1.6 million euro (August)

Total accommodation sales in August were 1.6 million euro (+406,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 56.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 678,000 euro (-34,600) and non-registered sales 891,000 euro (+440,000).

Total January-August sales were 30.1 million euro and they increased 14.7 million euro from the previous year.
