Registered bed nights increased 82 percent (March)

In March 2022, 73,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Kittilä (+81.8 %), of which 46,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 26,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 18 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 3,000 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 82 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from France (4,700 nights).

53,900 nights (+69.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 19,600 nights (+129.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 96,100 registered bed nights (+0.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 102,000 (+3,671.3 %) for foreigners in Kittilä, in total 198,000 (+101.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+105.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+70.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 377,000 nights (+699.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kittilä out of total registered bed nights was 4.2 % (-0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.4 % and foreign bed nights 7.1 %.

21,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (March)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 125 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 67.4 percent were domestic, and 32.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kittilä on average 3.3 nights (-1.0) and foreigners 3.9 nights (-0.94).

10,400 air travelers

The airport received a total of 10,400 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 131 percent.

Of local passengers, 4.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 95.7 %.

In addition, there were 12,400 passengers departing the airport (+125.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 22,900 (+127.9 %).
