Registered bed nights increased four percent
In December 2019, 93,500 bed nights were recorded in Kittilä (+4.4 %), of which 27,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 66,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 34 percent and foreign bed nights decreased four percent. In total, bed nights increased four percent from last year's December.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United Kingdom (39,500 nights).
69,300 nights (+2.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 24,200 nights (+10.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 271,000 bed nights (+1.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 259,000 (-3.0 %) for foreigners in Kittilä, in total 529,000 (-0.8 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

25,800 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 27.4 percent were domestic, and 72.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kittilä on average 3.8 nights (+0.44) and foreigners 3.6 nights (-0.06).
1,600 international congress guests in 2019
The number of international congress quests increased 750 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 3.0 congresses organized (+1.0) in 2019.
51,200 air travelers
The airport received a total of 51,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased less than one percent.
Of local passengers, 64.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 35.3 %.
In addition, there were 42,900 passengers departing the airport (-2.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 94,100 (-1.2 %).

Accommodation sales 6.7 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 6.7 million euro (+1.9 million). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 16.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 5.5 million euro (+1.4 million) and non-registered sales 1.1 million euro (+454,000).
Total January-December sales were 36.4 million euro and they increased 5.9 million euro from the previous year.
