26,800 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 26,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Kittilä (-12.2 %), of which 26,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 580 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased six percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 78 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 12 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (200 nights).

22,500 nights (+2.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,400 nights (-49.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 146,000 registered bed nights (-29.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 132,000 (-24.3 %) for foreigners in Kittilä, in total 279,000 (-27.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.2 million registered bed nights (-32.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-12.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 92,200 nights (-82.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kittilä out of total registered bed nights was 2.2 % (+0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

10,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.8 percent were domestic, and 1.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kittilä on average 2.6 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 4.7 nights (+2.5).

2,700 air travelers

The airport received a total of 2,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased five percent.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.

In addition, there were 2,800 passengers departing the airport (-3.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 5,400 (+0.4 %).

Accommodation sales 2.0 million euro

Total accommodation sales in September were 2.0 million euro (+65,400). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 41.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.2 million euro (-142,000) and non-registered sales 831,000 euro (+207,000).

Total January-September sales were 24.2 million euro and they decreased 1.6 million euro from the previous year.
