Registered bed nights increased 3,200 percent

In April 2021, 32,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Kittilä (+3,174.7 %), of which 31,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 650 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 4,000 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 220 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 3,200 percent from last year's April.

25,600 nights (+3,237.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,500 nights (+2,949.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 127,000 registered bed nights (+60.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,400 (-97.4 %) for foreigners in Kittilä, in total 130,000 (-37.3 %) registered nights.

Market share 4.1 percent

Total of 780,000 registered bed nights (+310.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 727,000 nights (+319.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 53,100 nights (+216.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kittilä out of total registered bed nights was 4.1 % (+3.6 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.3 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

Total of 168,000 registered bed nights (+769.9 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 164,000 nights (+778.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 4,200 nights (+531.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kittilä out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 19.1 %, out of domestic bed nights 19.2 % and foreign bed nights 15.4 %.

8,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 4,400 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.5 percent were domestic, and 1.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kittilä on average 3.9 nights (-0.74) and foreigners 5.3 nights (-9.2).

Accommodation sales 2.6 million euro

Total accommodation sales in April were 2.6 million euro (+1.7 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 40.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.5 million euro (+1.5 million) and non-registered sales 1.1 million euro (+154,000).

Total January-April sales were 10.9 million euro and they decreased 7.1 million euro from the previous year.
