Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 86 percent

In March 2022, 75,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Kittilä (+85.9 %), of which 48,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 26,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 23 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 2,900 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 86 percent from last year's March.

55,700 nights (+74.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 19,600 nights (+128.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 98,200 registered bed nights (+2.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 103,000 (+3,694.4 %) for foreigners in Kittilä, in total 201,000 (+104.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 4.3 percent

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+104.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+69.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 379,000 nights (+703.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kittilä out of total registered bed nights was 4.3 % (-0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.5 % and foreign bed nights 7.0 %.

Market share in Lapland 18.6 percent

Total of 406,000 registered bed nights (+117.3 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 226,000 nights (+28.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 179,000 nights (+1,727.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kittilä out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 18.6 %, out of domestic bed nights 21.6 % and foreign bed nights 14.7 %.

Length of stay was 3.5 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 18 percent compared to earlier year. In Kittilä, length of stay in March was on average 3.5 nights and in Finland 2.2 nights (-18.8 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kittilä on average 3.4 nights (-14.0 %) and foreigners 3.9 nights (-2.7 %).

21,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 127 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 68.3 percent were domestic, and 31.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kittilä on average 3.4 nights (-0.95) and foreigners 3.9 nights (-0.92).

24,100 air travelers

The airport received a total of 24,100 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 200 percent.

Of local passengers, 24.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 75.1 %.

In addition, there were 27,900 passengers departing the airport (+270.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 52,000 (+234.8 %).

Accommodation sales 7.9 million euro

Total accommodation sales in March were 7.9 million euro (+4.5 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 22.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 6.1 million euro (+3.9 million) and non-registered sales 1.8 million euro (+589,000).

Total January-March sales were 19.5 million euro and they increased 11.4 million euro from the previous year.
