Kokkola Region: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased one percent
In March 2019, 7,400 bed nights were recorded in Kokkola Region (+0.8 %), of which 6,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 910 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased one percent and foreign bed nights increased two percent. In total, bed nights increased one percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (143 nights).
3,600 nights (+16.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,800 nights (-10.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 18,300 bed nights (-2.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2,600 (-2.2 %) for foreigners in Kokkola Region, in total 20,900 (-2.2 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Kokkola Region out of total bed nights was 0.4 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.
4,800 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 94.8 percent were domestic, and 5.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kokkola Region on average 1.4 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 3.6 nights (+1.0).

Registered accommodation sales in March were 541,000 euro (+29,300).
Registered January-March sales were 1.5 million euro and they increased 15,300 euro from the previous year.
