In December 2018, 5,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Kokkola Region (-2.0 %), of which 4,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 750 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased two percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased three percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased two percent from last year's December.
2,400 nights (-8.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,000 nights (+3.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 106,000 registered bed nights (-0.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 14,000 (-0.2 %) for foreigners in Kokkola Region, in total 120,000 (-0.7 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased five percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. In Kokkola Region, length of stay in December was on average 1.7 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.4 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kokkola Region on average 1.5 nights (-2.1 %) and foreigners 4.7 nights (+16.0 %).
3,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.1 percent were domestic, and 4.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kokkola Region on average 1.5 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 4.7 nights (+0.15).
