9,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 9,000 bed nights (+25.4 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Kokkola in December 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 70 % and non-registered 30 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 149,000 (+21.2 %). Share of registered was 79 % and non-registered 21 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 16 percent
In December 2022, 6,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Kokkola (+16.4 %), of which 5,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 880 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 13 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 42 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 16 percent from last year's December.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (139 nights).
2,700 nights (-9.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,600 nights (+46.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 106,000 registered bed nights (+7.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,100 (+127.8 %) for foreigners in Kokkola, in total 117,000 (+12.6 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.0 percent were domestic, and 6.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kokkola on average 1.5 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 3.9 nights (-0.96).

The airport received a total of 1,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 200 percent.
Of local passengers, 37.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 62.9 %.

Accommodation sales 483,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 483,000 euro (+89,900). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 9.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 435,000 euro (+73,000) and non-registered sales 47,500 euro (+16,900).
Total January-December sales were 8.5 million euro and they increased 2.4 million euro from the previous year.
