Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased one percent

In March 2019, 7,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Kokkola (+0.6 %), of which 6,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 910 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased less than one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased two percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (143 nights).

3,600 nights (+16.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,800 nights (-10.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 18,200 registered bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2,600 (-2.1 %) for foreigners in Kokkola, in total 20,800 (-2.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.9 million registered bed nights (-2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 567,000 nights (-1.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kokkola out of total registered bed nights was 0.4 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

Length of stay increased three percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. In Kokkola, length of stay in March was on average 1.5 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-2.4 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kokkola on average 1.4 nights (+2.8 %) and foreigners 3.6 nights (+10.6 %).

4,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.8 percent were domestic, and 5.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kokkola on average 1.4 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 3.6 nights (+1.0).

The airport received a total of 2,400 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 42 percent.

Of local passengers, 7.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 92.6 %.

In addition, there were 2,000 passengers departing the airport (-44.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 4,300 (-43.4 %).

Accommodation sales 560,000 euro

Total accommodation sales in March were 560,000 euro (+45,500). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 4.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 537,000 euro (+28,500) and non-registered sales 23,000 euro (+16,900).

Total January-March sales were 1.6 million euro and they increased 51,800 euro from the previous year.
